WASHINGTON, D.C.- Each quarter, the Office of Advocacy (Advocacy) releases an economic bulletin compiling the latest statistics on small business economic indicators from government and non-government sources. The publication analyzes the state of the U.S. small business economy using graphics to illustrate the latest available data.
Recent data indicates a surge in optimism from community bankers at the end of 2024 in anticipation of regulatory relief. The Community Bank Sentiment Index (CBSI) has been above 100 for two consecutive quarters for the first time in the survey’s history. Driven mostly by regulatory burden relief outlook, the index remained positive in June, the latest quarter reported. Data also suggests self-employment continues to trend upward and new business births remain elevated.
Chief Counsel Casey B. Mulligan said, “Our latest economic bulletin shows that the Trump Administration is changing the outlook for community banks across the country by providing much-needed regulatory relief. As we work to advocate for small businesses, I am pleased to see community banks, small businesses’ most important partner for capital, now have a positive outlook on the future so they and our small businesses can grow.”
