FDIC Seeks Comments on Proposed Rule to Amend Signage Requirements

What: On August 21, 2025, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) published a notice of proposed rulemaking seeking comments on a proposal that would amend signage requirements for insured depository institutions’ (IDIs) digital deposit channels, ATMs, and similar devices. The proposed changes are intended to address implementation issues and sources of potential confusion with current signage requirements. The proposed rule would provide additional flexibility to IDIs while also enabling consumers to better understand when they are conducting business with an IDI and when their funds are protected by the FDIC’s deposit insurance coverage.

Why: The FDIC certifies that the expected effects of the proposed rule would not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. However, the FDIC invites comments on all aspects of the supporting information provided in its Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) analysis. Particularly, the agency is interested in comments on any significant effects on small entities that the FDIC has not identified.

Action: FDIC’s regulatory review is published in the Federal Register. Comments are due to FDIC on or before October 20, 2025.
